Affectionately known as "Tex", Cheri Dawn Boyd was born November 16, 1961 to Mr. Charles E. Lee and Ms. Helen R. Robinson in Naples, Texas. She was preceded in death by her father Charles, Grandmother Vernessa Robinson, Sister Ms. Jeannie R. Boyd, Brother Bobby G. Lee, Son Travon Hunter, Adoptive parents Mr. & Mrs. Nathaniel & Annie Harper, Sisters in Love Victoria Simmons and Rosemary Hunter.
She graduated from Paul Pewitt High School in Naples-Omaha, TX. She received degrees from Jarvis Christian College and Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville in Education. She was an educator before she became a dedicated employee of the Department of Treasury Internal Revenue Service for 23 years. She loved reading, laughing, spending time with her family and friends, singing, helping others, watching sports, shopping, and taking care of her mother Helen.
She accepted Christ in her life at an early age in Unionville, TX. After college, she relocated to East St. Louis, IL,. There she joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorates of the late Rev. L.T. Phinnessee and Rev. Fredrick E. Wilson Sr.. She served as an usher and choir member. She later joined the Greater Faith Christian Center in Centreville, IL under Rev. Wilson and Rev. J. A. McGlaun,where she filled in positions to help in the advancement of the church. She was one of few members to follow Pastor McGlaun over to Prince of Peace Christian Center in Cahokia Heights, IL where she served until she was called home. She served under Rev. & First Lady Jared and Kim Gardner. She took on any roll she saw fit to ensure the church had what they needed, but our favorite thing was to hear her sang. Not sing, but sang!!!! Her angelic high soprano will forever be missed.
She married in holy matrimony to her Soulmate Mr. Michael T. Hunter Sr on April 24, 1999. They were happily married for 24 years and together for 33 years. To this union, she and Michael were blessed to have 5 children, 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She loved all her babies. She did whatever she could for her family. She didn't play about her family. She had a strong village behind her.
Cheri peacefully departed on March 22, 2024 in Longview, TX. She leaves her treasured memories to her Husband: Michael, Her Loving Mother: Helen, Her Mother In Love: Anna Bell, 4 children: Maurice, Ashley, Renada, Micheal Jr., 6 grandchildren, JaKayla, Michael III, Garland, Travon, McKenzie and Sanaa, 10 Brothers: Rev Richard (Emma) Robinson, Richard (Chazz) Lee, Howard (Cheryl) Lee, Tony (Emma) Lee, LaSharat (Shalonda) Lee, Larry (Gwen) Harper, Gary (Julie) Harper, Kerry (Deana) Harper, Anthony Vinson, 7 Sisters: Kami (James) Simon, Karen (Alfred) Key, Tyra (Tyrone) Foley, Rita Payton, Lisa (Calvin) Williams, Yolanda Harper- Jones, Tammy (Jeff) Fields.
